What’s Inside the Guide

The little things nobody thinks to mention before shoulder surgery can make a big difference.

After six shoulder surgeries, I’ve learned a lot through trial and error. I put those lessons into one practical guide.

Inside you’ll find:

  • Tips for sleeping, showering, and getting dressed
  • Preparing for surgery and managing everyday tasks
  • Pain management and nerve block considerations
  • The emotional side of recovery
  • Mistakes I made and things I’d do differently
  • Printable checklists, questions for your surgeon, and a medication and pain log

19 pages of real-life experience, practical advice, and helpful tools.

No unrealistic promises. Just things I wish I’d known sooner.

About me

Hi, I’m Jess. I’ve been through six shoulder surgeries, including rotator cuff repair, labrum repair, and biceps tenodesis. I know how overwhelming it can feel to prepare for surgery and figure out everyday life afterward.

I learned a lot the hard way, and I created Shoulder Haven to share what I wish I’d known from the start. This guide brings together my firsthand experience and practical lessons, so you can feel a little more prepared and a little less alone.

This guide shares my personal experience and what worked for me. It isn’t medical advice. Always follow your surgeon’s and care team’s instructions.

My recovery essentials, all in one place

I’m putting together a bundle of the things I found helpful during my own recovery, so you won’t have to shop around for lots of separate items. My goal is to make those recovery days a little easier and more comfortable.
